Thales people architect solutions at the heart of the defence-security continuum. Sesto Fiorentino is the Headquarter of Thales Italia. It hosts two Domains: Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) and Security (SIX).

The activity of GTS domain: Security systems, telecommunications, supervision, control & management information, and signalling solutions for trains, trams, and metros. Regarding railway solutions, Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems, and Asset Management. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for tramway signalling solutions.

The activity of SIX domain: mission-critical solutions and applications for assets and citizens security (supervision, control, and information management systems) as well as cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers to detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage, overseeing these architectures, and ensuring that they are kept in secure working order. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for Airport security and operations management solutions.

Objectives of the Internship

The Sales Support Intern will assist the Sales team with managing the commercial pipeline, preparing offers, creating marketing materials, negotiating with customers, and finalizing offers into contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Sales team in managing the commercial pipeline and forecasting sales.
  • Assist in preparing offers and marketing materials tailored to specific customer needs.
  • Participate in customer negotiations and help finalize offers into contracts.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and various departments, including Legal, Finance, and Technical, to support the sales process.
  • Receive on-the-job training by working alongside Sales Managers from the SIX/PRS Civil team to achieve target skills.
Skills Acquired by End of Internship
  • Comprehensive understanding of international and domestic sales processes.
  • Proficiency in managing the commercial pipeline and sales forecasts.
  • Cross-functional teamwork with departments such as Legal, Finance, and Technical.
  • Knowledge of contractual terms for sales projects.
  • Experience in creating customer-specific marketing materials.
  • Development of leadership qualities and teamwork abilities.
Requirements
  • University degree (STEM field preferred but not mandatory).
  • Participation in extracurricular activities is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Italian (native proficiency preferred) and English for daily interaction in an international, multicultural environment.
  • Autonomous, proactive, rigorous, and committed attitude.
  • Passion for and understanding of technology (particularly in cybersecurity and digital domains).
