Call for Applications: Research Assistant Thursday, 07 May :17Call for Applications: Research Assistant The Department of Economics at the University of Piemonte Orientale in Novara (Italy) ( ) is opening a position for a Research Assistant from October 2009, tenable for one year. The Research Assistant will collaborate on the project ‘Multinational Corporations and their linkages with the local context in Italy’, directed by Prof. Roberta Rabellotti ( ). The objective of such a position is that the holder will be responsible for the collection of firm-level data through a questionnaire survey to be submitted to subsidiaries of Multinational Corporations located in Italy and to other actors (local firms, institutions, etc.). The Research Assistant will also be involved in the creation of the dataset and in the analysis of the data collected. Applicants are requested to have a doctorate in economics or related fields (economic geography, development, innovation studies, etc.). Relevant specialist knowledge and experience on Multinationals Corporations will be an advantage, as well as some basic knowledge of Social Network Analysis. Good knowledge of Italian and English are a requirement. Doctoral students should only apply if they are in the stage of submitting their thesis and will be able to start working full-time on the project from October 2009. The successful applicant will also have demonstrably excellent communications skills, an ability to analyse data and good organisational abilities.
