Senior DevOps Engineer - Italy (Ispra) Ispra, Italy - Hybrid (2 days on-site per week)Salary: ~35,000 € SBALong-term project | EU Institution environmentEnglish requiredAbout the RoleWe are looking for a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a long-term project within a European research and innovation environment. You will work on-site in Ispra (2 days per week) and support a wide ecosystem of tools, infrastructure, and DevOps processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on technical expertise and solid experience in automation, CI/CD, Linux systems, and containerized environments.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain GitLab CI/CD servers and pipelines.Oversee containerized environments using Docker and Swarm clusters.Develop automation workflows using Ansible.Administer and troubleshoot Ubuntu LTS Linux systems.Manage PostgreSQL databases, including Barman backup, restore procedures, and master-slave configuration.Ensure proper backup and recovery policies across systems.Provide end-user support for day-to-day operational issues.Collaborate with the team to ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and security.Apply strong networking knowledge in daily activities.RequirementsMaster's degree + 11 years of experience, ORBachelor's degree + 15 years of experienceStrong experience in:GitLab CI/CD (server management)Docker & container orchestration (Swarm)Ansible automationLinux systems (Ubuntu LTS)PostgreSQL, Barman backup, master-slave replicationBackup/restore policiesNetworking fundamentalsAbility to work on-site in Ispra 2 days/weekFluent in English (written and spoken)About the ProjectYou will be working on-site at a major EU research centre, contributing to projects related to scientific innovation, sustainability, energy, and geospatial data.
