RINA is currently recruiting for an AI Engineer-Satellite System to join its office in Roma within the Digital Technology and Cybersecurity Division.MissionThe AI Expert will be responsible for researching, designing, and implementing AI-driven solutions that address business needs and drive competitive advantage. This role aims to lead the development and deployment of AI models, algorithms, and applications while staying at the forefront of AI advancements.Key AccountabilitiesAI Model Development and ImplementationResearch, design, and develop AI models, algorithms, and applications tailored to specific Satellite Systems and SAR ImageryImplement and deploy AI solutions using appropriate tools and frameworks;Data Analysis and PreparationPerform data analysis and preprocessing to prepare datasets for training and validation of AI modelsEnsure data quality, integrity, and availability for AI initiatives;Performance Evaluation and OptimizationEvaluate the performance of AI models using metrics and techniques such as accuracy, precision, recall, and AUCOptimize AI models for scalability, efficiency, and robustness in real-world applications;Collaboration and Cross-functional IntegrationWork closely with software engineers, data scientists, and domain experts to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and workflowsProvide technical leadership and guidance on AI-related projects and initiatives;Research and InnovationStay updated with the latest advancements and research in AI, machine learning, and related fieldsExplore and experiment with new AI technologies, frameworks, and methodologies;Documentation and ReportingDocument AI models, algorithms, methodologies, and resultsPrepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders and management.EducationMaster’s Degree in Computer EngineeringDoctorate/PhD in Computer ScienceQualificationsProven +3 years experience as an AI Engineer, AI Researcher, or similar role with a focus on developing AI solutions for Satellite System and SAR imagery;Advanced knowledge of cognitive cycles applied to autonomous systems with experience on distributed learning, edge AI, and federated learning;Development of multi-agent algorithms for satellite coordination and optimization for embedded hardware;Understanding of operational constraints of space-borne systems, data fusion, real-time inference, and modeling for SAR imagery;Strong proficiency in AI/ML techniques, algorithms, and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, MLOps pipelines);Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for AI development;Solid understanding of data structures, databases, and data processing techniques;Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.CompetenciesADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective wayBUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organizationCLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfactionEARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversityMAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources and constraintMANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognise one's and other's emotions and express and regulate one's reactionsPIONEER CHANGE - Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstancesPROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role ModelTHINK FORWARD - Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the futureRINA is a multinational company providing a wide range of services in the energy, marine, certification, infrastructure & mobility, industry, research & development sectors.
