Marine Floating Offshore Sector Senior SurveyorRINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Floating Offshore Sector Senior Surveyor to join its office in Genoa, Naples or Pescara, Italy within the Marine Special Ships Excellence Centre Division.MissionThe Senior Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles. The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.Key AccountabilitiesProfessional Specialist:Acts as a professional specialist, applying in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and industry concepts.Keeps abreast of new developments and recommends changes to surveying processes and safety programs.Inspection and Reporting:Conducts routine surveys on classed ships, offshore installations, or marine assets to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements.Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys.Leadership and Coordination:Plans, schedules, and coordinates various phases of surveying work.Monitors the quality of service, providing guidance to less experienced surveyors.Client Interaction:Engages with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise.Ensures client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues.Training and Development:Provides guidance, and training to less experienced surveyors.Contributes to the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge of the surveying team.Quality Assurance:Ensures the maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed.Ethical Conduct:Upholds the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.EducationMaster’s Degree in Naval EngineeringQualificationsMinimum 3 years’ experience working as a Surveyor or minimum 6 years’ experience in engineering or inspection/survey fields with an IACS member Classification Society.Understanding of RINA strategic technical positioning in the marine industry.Proficiency in English commensurate with classification and statutory certification scope.Ability to develop working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy.Ability to understand engineering plans and knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.New building surveys:Assess suitability of certified materials and products supplied for the new building.Verify that hull, machinery and equipment have been built in compliance with rules and regulations through compulsory inspections, tests and trials.Issue Certificates, Reports, Records and Status in compliance with rules and regulations.Ship in service surveys:Assess that hull, machinery and equipment have been maintained in compliance with rules and regulations through compulsory overall inspections, tests and trials.Follow-up repair works, assign new class period and validity of statutory Certificates.Attend major conversion works and identify deficiencies requiring repair.Determine if immediate repair is necessary or condition can be issued with due date.Follow-up on repair work per regulations, handling outstanding conditions.Assess link between identified deficiencies and potential failure of the Ship Management System.Endorse Certificates, issue Reports and Status per rules and regulations.Marine Management Systems audits.Testing activities and supplier/manufacturer certification:Assess suitability of certified materials and products complying with applicable rules.Issue Certificates and prepare Reports and Status per procedures.Knowledge of ship engineering systems and machinery.Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.CompetenciesPromote sustainable development - commit by keeping promises as a role model.Manage emotions - recognise and regulate emotional responses.Pioneer change - embrace change and benefit from new circumstances.Build network - forge trust relationships across departments and outside the organization.Make effective decisions - structure activities per priorities, resources, and constraints.Address the way - have a big picture and reinterpret situations from different perspectives.Think forward - capitalise on experiences and translate into action plans for the future.Client intimacy - embrace internal and external client needs to ensure maximum satisfaction.Earn trust - consider everyone's opinions, remain open to diversity.RINA is a multinational company providing a wide range of services in the energy, marine, certification, infrastructure & mobility, industry, research & development sectors.
