THE ROLE You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group. The team is composed by material scientists, nanotechnologists, physicists, chemists, neuroscientists, electronic engineers, computational scientists, biotechnologist and biomedical engineers, sharing their expertise to work at the border of these multiple disciplines. The position will be in the Multifunctional Neural Interfaces Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Ferruccio Pisanello, to implement research activity related to the IIT Flagship Technologies for Healthy Living, in a synergistic collaboration with the groups of Prof. Teresa Pellegrino, Prof. Fabio Benfenati, Prof. Massimo De Vittorio and Prof. Gianni Ciofani. You will share with the team the main responsibility of developing of investigating fiber-optic-based methodology to optically irradiate novel chemical, biochemical and biological compounds able to selectively generate apoptosis in primary brain tumors. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A PhD in nanotechnologies, physics, engineering, or related disciplines Previous experience in the use of optical fields with nanomaterials Manipulation of colloidal nanomaterials/nanoparticles for optical applications is also highly appreciated A strong publication record The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data Good command in spoken and written English ADDITIONAL SKILLS Programming skills in Python and MATLAB Previous experience thermographic imaging Good communication skills Strong problem solving attitude High motivation to learn Spirit of innovation and creativity Good in time and priority management Ability to work in a challenging and international environment Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Competitive salary package for international standards Private health care coverage Wide range of staff discounts WHAT’S IN FOR YOU?
