On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Global Category Lead based in Italy where you will be joining an international automotive lubricants company. With their ambitious growth plans, they are looking for new team members who are up to the challenge of making our client a global leader of automotive lubricants, all while making an impact in the industry and communities in which they work. THE ROLE The Manager, Global Category Packaging Lead, will play a key role in the development and execution of the global packaging strategy for the company’s automotive lubricants product line. This role will lead the packaging category management, overseeing supplier relationships, optimizing packaging solutions, and driving cost savings across regions. The position is crucial in ensuring that packaging aligns with the company’s sustainability goals, regulatory requirements, and global supply chain needs. KEY RESPONSBILITIES Lead the global packaging category management strategy, including sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization for packaging solutions in the automotive lubricants sector. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Production, Logistics, Marketing, Sustainability) to develop innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions that meet product quality standards and enhance consumer experience. Manage global packaging suppliers, ensuring the selection of reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable partners. Monitor and analyze market trends to drive continuous improvement in packaging design, sustainability, and cost reduction. Lead global initiatives aimed at reducing packaging waste and increasing the use of sustainable and recyclable materials. Ensure compliance with international packaging regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices. Develop and manage global packaging budgets, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Report regularly on packaging performance, key metrics, and cost-saving initiatives to senior leadership. Manage packaging innovation and collaborate with the marketing team to support new product launches and packaging redesigns. Provide leadership and guidance to regional packaging teams and contribute to building the company’s global packaging capabilities. SKILLS Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in packaging management or a related procurement/supply chain role, ideally within the automotive lubricants or consumer goods sector. Strong experience in global supplier management, packaging optimization, and cost management. In-depth knowledge of packaging materials, sustainability trends, and regulatory standards. Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess market trends and translate insights into actionable strategies. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities.
