System Development Engineer

Job ID: | Amazon Development Center (Romania) S.R.L. - A91The Compliance Shared Services (CoSS) organization's mission is to build shared services for managing regulations. The SPIDER (Streamlining Planning, Deployment and Post-Release) team within CoSS is responsible for the technical infrastructure and tools to proactively identify and resolve issues impacting Selling Partners. SPIDER is seeking a System Dev Engineer with experience in software engineering support or an equivalent role, with a track record of driving projects to improve software development, business, and customer service support‑related processes and technical support experiences. A successful candidate will be an experienced technical team member who is willing to take on challenging responsibilities, has a metrics‑focused approach, demonstrates customer focus, and has the ability to lead in multi‑functional and fast‑paced environments. The role also involves driving smaller‑scope development projects and building custom tools.Technical Support and Problem ResolutionDiagnose and resolve complex production software issues across multiple products and servicesPerform comprehensive troubleshooting and root cause analysis for technical challengesProvide timely and effective support through ticket management and customer communicationSoftware Development and MaintenanceDevelop and implement operational tools and automation solutions using Ruby, Rails, Java, Python, and shell scriptingMaintain and configure software systems in staging and production environmentsImplement fixes and enhancements for internally developed software applicationsSystem Operations and MonitoringDesign and implement monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability and performanceManage software deployments and support infrastructure in AWS and web technology environmentsCreate and maintain system and support status reportsTeam Collaboration and Knowledge ManagementCoordinate support issue handoffs within the teamDevelop and contribute to a comprehensive team knowledge baseCollaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve operational excellenceProduct and Service OwnershipTake ownership of digital products or system componentsEnsure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)Coordinate customer notifications and workflow managementBasic QualificationsKnowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)Experience (non‑internship) in professional software developmentExperience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systemsExperience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands‑on systems engineeringExperience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, RubyPreferred QualificationsExperience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or JavaExperience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodologyAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
