You will engage with experienced teams to conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delighting customers with affordable, reliable, high‑bandwidth connectivity. You will work closely with Amazon LEO sub‑teams and third‑party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test. Your designs will impact downstream partners such as operations, management, and reliability. You will make daily high‑value judgments on tactical versus strategic decisions to achieve system performance targets and maintain schedules despite unexpected challenges.Amazon strongly believes in ownership; you will own your designs from concept through production.You will own or contribute to the following:Own PCBA development from concept through productionDesign and optimize different blocks of electronics subsystemsDesign high‑speed digital and/or RF circuitry in collaboration with various teamsLead and review schematic capture and PCB layoutLead PCB vendor engagement for DFM reviewOptimize PCB stack‑up for performance and costGenerate test plans/procedures based on high‑level requirement definitionComplete board bring‑up and perform test campaigns for different modules and subsystemsDesign automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory testSupport the transition of the designs to productionAbout the hiring groupThe payload antenna team is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite phased arrays. These antenna systems will meet performance requirements defined by the RF/modem team as well as environmental and reliability requirements defined by the mechanical team. The team collaborates closely with silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams.Export Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Basic QualificationsExperience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test proceduresBS degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or equivalent experience7+ years of industrial experience, especially board‑level analog/digital design1+ years of experience in high‑speed digital design, multi‑gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity3+ years of experience using schematic2+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi‑metersExperience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout toolsPreferred QualificationsExperience with the project management of technical projectsMasters of Science or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineeringFamiliarity with analog electronic fundamentals (transistor circuits, op‑amps, filters, etc)Experience in design, implementation, bring‑up and debugging of proof‑of‑concept HW and prototypesFamiliarity with power supply designPrevious work experience in a programming languageProficiency in developing programs for instrument controlAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
