The Director, Power Train Technical Business Development leads Vertiv's pre‐sales technical engagement for power infrastructure solutions across global strategic Hyperscale, Neo‐Cloud, and MTDC customers. This is a critical role bridging deep electrical power domain expertise with customer‐facing influence to position Vertiv as the basis of design for power architectures in mission‐critical data center environments. The scope encompasses the full power train — from utility entrance through medium voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS systems (AC and DC), static transfer switches, power distribution (PDUs, RPPs, busway), and battery/energy storage systems. As data center campuses scale to hundreds of megawatts and AI workloads demand unprecedented power density and reliability, this role is at the forefront of defining how Vertiv addresses next‐generation power challenges. The Technical Business Development team positions Vertiv as a trusted partner through deep product and solution expertise, industry insight and leadership, and customer consultation to design solutions that meet customers' unique needs. The goal is to "get up and to the left" – engaging higher in the customer organization to the decision‐maker level and earlier in the process to position Vertiv as the basis of design. Strong collaboration and partnership with the Hyperscale, Neo‐Cloud, and MTDC account managers, data center solutions, thermal chain, and whitespace solutions teams are critical to deliver a consistent and unified message to advance Vertiv's market position. This position requires invention on a daily basis with a keen sense of urgency and market approach nimbleness. Today's data center customers expect speed and technical competence in addressing power challenges at scale — particularly as campuses grow to GW‐scale and customers explore alternative power architectures including DC distribution and on‐site generation. Power Basis‐of‐Design: Achievement of Vertiv power products/solutions as customer basis‐of‐design across power architectures (AC, DC, hybrid, modular power). Measurable orders & sales share gain for power train solutions at target GSA customers. Collaboration with Power BU/Product Lines to develop reference power architectures and disseminate power train thought leadership to customers, industry events, and market publications. Collaboration with GSA and NAM Sales counterparts to define and execute power‐specific growth strategies within overall account plans. evolution from product‐specific power skills to system‐level power train expertise integrated with overall data center architecture. Lead technical engagement with identified and emerging GSA customers to influence and design power architectures positioning Vertiv's power portfolio as the basis of design. Collaborate directly with strategic GSA customers to design overall power strategies addressing current and future capacity, density, and reliability requirements. Whiteboard system‐level power architectures with customer CTOs, Engineering, and Design leadership — articulating trade‐offs between AC/DC topologies, redundancy levels, and modular vs. Drive early engagement in the customer's design cycle to shape power requirements before RFP issuance. Product, Systems & Solutions Expertise Deep understanding of Vertiv's power portfolio including UPS systems (AC and DC), switchgear, PDUs, RPPs, busway, static transfer switches, battery/energy storage systems, and integrated power modules/skids. Ability to articulate system‐level power design — from utility entrance to rack — including medium voltage infrastructure, paralleling, distribution topologies, monitoring/controls, and power quality. coordinate solution alignment with product roadmaps and drive innovative approaches to meet evolving capacity, efficiency, and sustainability requirements. Drive alignment and collaboration across senior leadership, sales, product development, and engineering to mature and disseminate power train thought leadership and reference designs. Engage with external design firms and consulting engineers to influence power specifications. Voice of Customer (VOC) Capture and communicate market needs, product gaps, and emerging power trends to the Power BU and Product Lines. Drive feedback loops to shape future power products and solution strategies — particularly around DC architectures, energy storage evolution, grid integration, and sustainability requirements. Represent Vertiv in trade shows, conferences, and industry publications to showcase power train technical thought leadership. Build visibility into Vertiv's power strategic direction and reinforce its market posture in power innovation. Team Leadership & Development Foster collaboration, cross‐learning, and best‐practice sharing across the team and with global peers.
