Location: Firenze, Italy Thales people architect solutions at the heart of the defence-security continuum. Sesto Fiorentino is the Headquarters of Thales Italia. It hosts two Domains: Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) and Security (SIX). The activity of GTS domain includes security systems, telecommunications, supervision, control management information, and signaling solutions for trains, trams, and metros. Regarding railway solutions, Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems, and Asset Management. Italy is Thales Group's competence center for tramway signaling solutions. The activity of SIX domain includes mission-critical solutions and applications for assets and citizen security (supervision, control and information management systems) as well as cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage, overseeing these architectures and ensuring that they are kept in secure working order. Italy is Thales Group's competence center for Airport security and operations management solutions. JOB OBJECTIVE To design and implement Electro-Mechanical Systems for BIDs and Projects. ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES Scout continuously the Defense Market and the Thales Products Portfolio to find innovative solutions, following especially the digital transformation trend. Analyze and understand customer needs or RD Call specifications, in order to well define and manage the related low/high level requirements. Design complex Telecom and Security Systems, allowing meeting stakeholders' expectations and in compliance with assigned budget, risks mitigation, quality constraints, project schedule, technology roadmap, and business strategy. Manage the vendors Subcontracts from a technical point of view. Support the relevant specialists to guarantee Cyber-by-Design. Elaborate all engineering documentation, e.g., Product Breakdown Structure, Architecture, Interconnection Diagrams, Functional Specifications, Interfaces Control Details, Test Procedures, and OM Manuals. Ensure the project technical integration and carry out integration, verification, and validation tests. Contribute to the main bid/project engineering reviews. Formalize and demonstrate the selected solution to the customer. WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS It is required Work Experience on Projects with Technological Contents, e.g., Structured Cabling Systems, Electrical/Power/Battery Systems, HVAC System, Technical Laboratory, PV Plant, Industrial Cabinet, or CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) where the leading of engineering activities was foreseen, in particular with a Design-To-Cost approach and a V Cycle methodology. QUALIFICATION EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Master Degree in Engineering (Energy, Electrical, Biomedical, Automation, Mechanical) or in Physicist. Worked on System Requirement Management and Technical Specification Writing. Excellent analytical, problems solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. Customer facing skills (presentations/meetings). Planning and Reporting skills. Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Able to coordinate with external contractors and suppliers. Able to work in various environments: in office, smart working, and construction sites. Able to effectively achieve objectives in teamwork. Able to perform in multicultural and multilanguage environment. PREFERRED SKILLS Security needs for Critical Infrastructures. Defense Business Market. Agile / Continuous Improvement approach.
