Job Description: Within the Initial & In-service Safety of Design in Varese - Cascina Costa, we are looking for a new Safety Specialist.
The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the development and certification of the Company's projects/products to ensure that the Safety, Reliability, and Testability requirements are fully understood and taken into account in the design, demonstrating that the expectations of Customers and Airworthiness Authorities are met or exceeded.
The Initial Safety is responsible for:
Reviewing the equipment/system design (including interfaces with other systems) to ensure compliance with the associated Safety, Reliability, and Testability requirements;Preparing aircraft and system level Safety, Reliability, and Testability analyses;Keeping Technical and Management responsibility for the safety activities required for certification;Scheduling, monitoring, and ensuring successful completion of each Safety task related to certification, thus sharing responsibility for the overall helicopter team performance;Participating in the design process and providing the Tech. Areas/Disciplines with all Safety analyses and data;Providing the Area Manager with feedback on task progress and arising issues during certification stage;Supporting the In-service safety management by providing assumptions and safety prediction elements used to certify the H/C, and performing safety risk assessment and analysis as required.The main interfaces of the Safety Specialist are the Chief Project Engineer and/or Project Engineers of a specific program, the Technical Discipline's specialists, and the Certification Authorities. Important for the role is the ability and desire to interact with different technical areas to ensure a thorough analysis involving a safe integration of all systems at the aircraft level.
Requirements: Degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience/Knowledge in the following is required:
SAE ARP4761 Guidelines and Methods for conducting the Safety Assessment process on Civil Airborne Systems and Equipment;SAE ARP4754A Guidelines for Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems;Functional Hazard Assessment;Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA);System Safety Analysis (including Fault Tree Analysis, Particular Risk Analysis, Common Mode Analysis, Derivation of Design Assurance Levels (DALs));Experience/Knowledge in the following would be a plus:
SAE ARP926 Fault/Failure Analysis Procedure;MIL-STD-1629 Procedure for performing Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis;Experience with computer-based analysis tools, i.e. Fault Tree +;Airworthiness Regulations, particularly Certification Specification 29;AC 29-2C;MIL-STD-882 System Safety.A good knowledge of oral and written English Language (at least B2 Level) is required.
Good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team are essential.
