We are looking for an HPC System Administrator to join our Information System unit.
You'll be part of the team which is responsible for managing the ALTEC advanced IT infrastructures that support the execution of space missions in which the company is involved (International Space Station, Space Rider, Solar Orbiter, ExoMars, and other) and the big data and HPC infrastructure which support Scientific Missions such as GAIA and Euclid.
HPC System Administrator responsibilities include monitoring and troubleshooting of system performances, new HW and SW installation and configuration, HW and SW upgrading, support installation, configuration and test of new center infrastructures and services.
To be successful in this role, you should have good knowledge of IT technologies, good troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience in particular with HPC datacenter technologies: HPC servers, Lustre file system, Infiniband, Storage systems like HPE 3PAR, HPE Primera and HPE Data Management Framework.
DutiesOperate and Maintain IT systems according to established requirementsUpgrade systems with new releases and modelsHandle business-critical IT tasks and systemsMonitor HPC datacenter health and perform the necessary troubleshooting to guarantee the best performances, answering to HW / SW issues and outagesSupport installation, configuration and test of new HPC infrastructures and servicesInteract with the help desk (L1) and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS3 years of experience covering ICT technologies and system administrationKnowledge of best practices for installation, configuration, customization and management of HPC technologies in complex environmentsKnowledge of servers and technology tools (Linux and Microsoft operative systems also in cluster mode)Knowledge of Database Administration (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres) at basic levelKnowledge of network protocols and technologiesGood knowledge of the English language SOFT SKILLSAbility to analyze and interpret dataAbility to define goals and achieve themTime management skillsProblem solving skillsAbility to work in a teamEffective communication ADDITIONAL ASSETSKnowledge of programming languagesAttendance of specialized IT courses (eventually with certification)
