Introduction
ALFA LAVAL is a Swedish multinational company operating in Italy for over 100 years with several sales offices, manufacturing, and research and development.
The R&D Team, based in Monza, is responsible for the product development and product upgrade and maintenance of Fuel Conditioning Systems (FCS) for Marine and Engine Power applications. You will be part of building up this function in Monza within Product Center, in close cooperation with Global Sales and Engineering and Supply functions.
The R&D Team is looking for a Technical Product Manager for Monza Site. The Technical Product Manager (TPM) has the technical responsibility for the definition of the FCS solutions for traditional and alternative fuels and product knowledge within the Product Center.
Job Description Summary
The TPM significantly contributes to the development and implementation of new products, to assure the full operability and maintenance, together with cost-saving initiatives before going into production. The Technical Product Manager is also, together with R&D, Product Management, and Global Sales, responsible for delivering new and innovative solutions to customers.

Generate new ideas and concepts related to products and technology
Contribute to writing and reviewing Feasibility Studies and Project Specifications
Actively scout technologies in the market and drive component qualification
Monitor market new technology landscape and evolution of rules and regulations
Drive technical development of new products and services from product concept to launch to match customer needs implementing the change request, market demands, and the requests of Global Sales
Active coordination of Designers and interface with other specialists
Initiate production of prototypes, samples, and lab tests
Guarantee design changes and document revision and approval
Manage product and component technical ownership
Keep the FCS product portfolio competitive and technically updated
Actively interface with Project Managers, drivers of NPD/EPD Projects, and Application Manager during discussions with Clients for new or extended applications
Drive cost-saving initiatives during the implementation of product modification and upgrade
Keep the overall budget for the Product update: man-hours, timing, and quality
Interface with E&S and Sourcing functions to explain the content of the updates
Ensure technical support for solving and maintaining product claim ratios on target
Support purchasing and supply activities
Lead the technical relation with external suppliers
What you know
Chemical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering degree or similar
Previous experience in this role will be a plus
Knowledge in the fuel conditioning process on board vessels will be a plus
Knowledge of Machinery Directive and UE New Legislative Framework for CE Mark (PED, ATEX, etc)
Competences in Product design and engineering process
Competence in process simulation and CFD simulation
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments and Office package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD 2D/3D, Inventor 3D, and Office
Knowledge of PDM system and PLM methodology is considered an asset
Multi-cultural awareness
Very good spoken and written English
