**Position Description**

NYU Florence is currently recruiting for a part-time lecturer to teach Etruscans. Teaching commences in the Autumn Term (Sept-Dec 2023).

**Course Description**

This course explores the civilization and culture of the Etruscans, analyzing the way it flourished in Italy, and identifying the numerous significant contributions to Western civilization. The course examines all areas and aspects of the Etruscans’ activities, and their impact on art, architecture, urbanization, and politics. Attention to current events and recent archaeological activity should be explored. The course will conclude on the Etruscans' influence and legacy.

**Course Objectives**

The course's main objectives will be:

- Identify and define the most important and distinctive features of Etruscan culture and civilization
- Acquire a basic understanding of issues and outcomes pertaining to Etruscan culture and civilization;
- Analyze the world of Etruscans and its multifold features

**Course format**

Teaching commences in the Fall Term (end of August-Dec 2023). The course is taught in English and meets twice per week for 90 minutes each session, for 14 instructional weeks plus the final examination week, and office hours. The instructor role includes all preparations, delivery, and grading.
