The CMCC Foundation is a scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers.

Our work aims to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment, and develop strategies for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

CMCC's financial sustainability is based on the vigorous fundraising efforts of all CMCC staff and scientists. CMCC is constantly working with the goal of extending its network of collaboration with universities and research agencies by participating in the competitive funding process for Grants & Tenders (European research and innovation programs, as well as national and international competitive funding).
To this end, CMCC has an in-house office - the Fund Raising Office based in Milan - dedicated to the monitoring of national, European and international funding opportunities, and supporting the preparation and submission of CMCC proposals.

Over the past 15 years, CMCC has submitted more than 1,500 proposals for funding and got funded through the EU 6th and 7th Framework Programs, the EU Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Programs; national funds and programs funded by Italian Ministries, local authorities and other public and private entities and recently the PNRR; other European and international programs and funders (Mercator Océan, ECMWF, ESA, INTERREG funs, LIFE, PRIMA, EU Directorates General, EMSA, FRONTEX, World Bank, FAO, UNICEF, IFADM UNEP, UNDP).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The CMCC Fund Raising Office is looking for a new position of Pre-award Grant officer, located in Milan, responsible for Supporting the FR team & the CMCC researchers in:

- Scouting new funding opportunities and analysing eligibility and participation conditions;
- Preparing and submitting CMCC proposals;
- Tracking CMCC proposals within the CMCC internal tracking system;
- Overview the proposal negotiation procedures.

RESPOSABILITIES

The Pre-award Grant officer will be responsible of:

- monitoring, scouting, analysing funding opportunities for climate related research activities at national, European and international levels;
- analysing calls’ eligibility conditions, the financial and administrative rules and analysing / drafting the administrative, financial and legal documentation of the selected calls;
- contributing to the preparation of the grant proposals: administrative and financial contents and other general contents;
- liaising with researchers and partners to collect data and inputs needed for proposals drafting and submission;
- supporting the negotiation of the contracts with the financing bodies and liaising with CMCC researchers, consortium partners, funding authorities and other CMCC departments for what concerns the administrative & legal requirements;
- supporting any other FR unit related duties and activities as required (eg. internal trainings, keep internal record of proposals submitted, update of funding sources database);
- contributing to internal reports derived from the above work, and present those at CMCC workshops, meetings, internal training sessions.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- M.Sc university degree;
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in field of National and European funds;
- Experience and familiarity with EU funding programs (eg. Horizon Europe, INTERREG, MED), national funding opportunities (eg. PNRR, other MUR funds, regional funds) and international funds (eg. UN, WB, ADB funds) and previous participation or contribution to proposal drafting and submission will be valued as an asset;
- Accuracy and good analytical skills in checking programs and funding requirements (eg. Eligibility criteria);
- Experience in the negotiation process (es review of legal contracts, HEU negotiation and amendments);
- Proposal drafting and public funds scouting is preferred over project management;
- Very good knowledge of (spoken and written) Italian & English is essential. Good presentation and writing skills (in Italian and English);
- Efficient multitasking, organisational and time management skills; Ability to work both independently and in team; Ability to identify priority activities and assignments, and to adjusts priorities as required.

DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Based on the duration of the employment contract, without prejudice to any changes in organisation and/or career paths and downstream of the performance appraisal.
