Gorgonzola hosts Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain. The activity of NAS domain:
avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.
Thales people architect solutions that enable two-thirds of planes to take off and land safely. Our Ground Navigation portfolio offers a complete range of products which includes the latest generation of ILS, DME, VOR and TACAN systems. With more than 7,000 Navigation aids and landing systems installed worldwide in 172 countries, we are leading the Navaids market.
The second product line of NAS is Non-Radar Surveillance (NRS) with an installed base of more than 2.200 ADS-B and MLAT ground stations.
We are currently looking for an Electrical Systems Engineer to join Thales Land and Air Systems in its Navaids Center of Competence Gorgonzola (near Milan).
Technically responsible for the design of electrical systems installed at customer site, designs and dimensions the relevant parts and/or coordinates the external partners involved in the design activity. Provides technical support to the project engineers Importante Azienda tender / contract negotiations with the customers. Provides technical specifications to known suppliers; requesting quotes as well as supporting selection of new suppliers.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Design relevant electrical systems to be installed in shelters or at other customer premises
Provide specific design documentation according to relevant normative or customer requirements
Provide support to project engineers and projectmanagers to select the system configurations optimized in cost and effectiveness
Support the resolution of the technical issues Importante Azienda installations in co-operation with the designated project engineer, project manager, customer service and any other resources
Design of special mains power supplies; AC/AC, AC/DC
Design of stand-alone solar power systems, operated at 48VDC for up to one week
Design of generator power supply systems; stand-alone or supported/combined with solar or city power
Design of specific remote control system installations by use of copper, fibre optic, radio, GSM, SAT as a media
Dimensioning of medium Voltage (MV) transformer systems up to 4.16 kV
Design of Lightning and Surge Protection according to IEC 62305 (DIN EN 62305)
Experience needed:
Degree in technical engineering, with focus on electrical engineering / telecommunication / RF
3 years minimum experience in the field of electrical engineering
Knowledge of various regulations / standards such as EN, ICAO or specific local standards
Knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g. MS Office) and CAD (e.g. AutoCAD)
COMMUNICATION
Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms across different management levels.
Ability to work in team. Taste for international contacts. Manifest the flexibility needed to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Technical leadership - with ability to build and sustain good working relationships with staff, peers and managers, customers and other stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications:
Interpersonal skills - the ability to communicate effectively with peers and act proactively within a team environment
English and Italian fluent is a must
Ability to speak additional languages as German or French is a benefit
The role will require travel for less than 20% of the time
