**Human Technopole (HT) **is a new interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT is composed of five Centers: Neurogenomics, Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Genomics, and Health Data Science. The Centers work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment that will help promote life science research both nationally and internationally.

**The Sottoriva Group** in the Computational Biology Research Centre at Human Technopole combines computational and experimental techniques to study cancer genomics and evolution. Our goal is to measure the evolutionary process in human cancers, predict the future course of the disease and uncover the mechanisms of drug resistance. We use a combination of spatial and longitudinal data from patients and patient-derived model systems, evolutionary theory and machine learning, to measure cancer biology.

We are now looking for a motivated **Postdoc **to work on the analysis and interpretation of novel datasets from colon cancer patients we have generated in our lab. The objective is to measure and predict evolutionary forces using a combination of single-cell multiomic data and longitudinal circulating tumour DNA profiling, and correlate evolutionary measurements with clinical information to understand why and how tumour progression and treatment resistance occur.

**Key tasks and responsibilities**:

- Analyse and interpret the data in light of tumour evolution.
- Design new methods and approaches, based on evolutionary theory and/or machine learning, to measure evolution from data.
- Integrate data generated in the lab with existing datasets.
- Think independently, providing scientific insight and drive projects forward and explore new avenues of research.
- Interact with the bioinformatics and experimental core posts to for data generation and analysis.
- Interact with a team of technical posts in the bioinformatics unit with different computational expertise.
- Work with the HT Genomics Facility, as well as the data generation unit within the centre.
- Build effective links and collaborations within HT.
- Develop links with other national and international institutions.

**Essential requirements**:

- Experience in cancer genomics and bioinformatics.
- Fluency in English.

**Preferential requirements**:

- +3 years of hands-on experience in cancer genomics and bioinformatics.
- Experience in the analysis of large datasets.
- Experience in designing new methods and approaches to measure evolution from data.

**Other key competencies**:

- Ability to interact effectively with other teams and work synergistically to drive projects forward.
- Proven leadership, communication, team building and problem-solving skills.
