**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**

Our Institute of GlObal Coastal Ocean (**GOCO**) is looking for a new position of Ocean Modeller, located in Bologna and Lecce, responsible for supporting the activities of the relocatable ocean modelling platform SURF.

**ROLE**

The Ocean Modeller will use the structural component of the relocatable SURF platform based on the NEMO ocean model, for configuring and creating high-resolution nested models in the area of the Bosporus Strait. In the initial phase, the use of the SURF platform will occur through the Command Line Interface (CLI). Subsequently, the Ocean Modeller will test the prototype of the web-based graphical user interface (GUI) during the development phase within the Edito Model Lab project. This interface is designed to simplify the configuration and generation process of nested models, making it more intuitive and efficient.

**RESPOSABILITIES**

The Ocean Modeller is responsible of supporting to the team involved in the "Edito Model Lab" research project, participating actively in discussions, and sharing ideas on improving usability and the appearance of the graphical interface.

As a tester of the SURF web-GUI prototype, the Ocean Modeller will contribute to providing feedback regarding the functionality, usability, and appearance of the graphical interface. The goal is to support CMCC developers in creating a product that allows users to interact with and utilize the functionalities of the SURF oceanographic platform intuitively and efficiently.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- good knowledge and skills in programming language (e.g. Python);
- good communication skills and team-working attitude;
- proficient skills of spoken and written English.

**DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**
- Based on the duration of the employment contract, without prejudice to any changes in organisation and/or career paths and downstream of the performance appraisal.
- The appointment is assigned following:
**IF CO.CO.CO.**
- The appointment period will be initially of **5 months **starting from **March 2024**.
- The gross monthly salary is 520 Euros
- Flexible working time
- Support during the immigration process, if needed

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
