Position Overview

We are hiring a Head of Data Science & AI to build and lead our newly created Data Science & AI function. In this people‑manager role, you will design reliable data pipelines, introduce pragmatic AI solutions, and enable self‑service analytics that improve decision‑making across Clinical, R&D, Quality/RA, Operations, Finance/Controlling and IT.

Key Responsibilities

- Improve monitoring of clinical and research activities.

- Predict risks and bottlenecks across end‑to‑end processes.

- Drive adoption of AI company‑wide with a pragmatic, measurable approach.

- Pipeline & Data Enablement— Design, build, and maintain trustworthy pipelines for data acquisition, transformation, and consumption (clinical, R&D, quality/RA, operations). Ensure data quality, lineage/traceability, and freshness.

- AI for the Business— Introduce and operationalize AI solutions (e.g., predictive models, intelligent document search/RAG, conversational data assistants) to reduce time, errors, and rework.

- Clinical & R&D Monitoring— Define and publish self‑service dashboards on enrollment, study milestones, deviations, anomalies, and lab/experiment metrics. Set up alerts and early‑warning indicators.

- Risk & Bottleneck Forecasting— Build interpretable models to anticipate delays, overloads, and critical points; co‑create mitigation plans with process owners.

- Adoption & Change Management— Promote adoption through training, guidelines, enablement of key users, and measurement of actual usage.

- Security & Compliance— Partner with Quality/RA and IT to ensure responsible data management (privacy, security, auditability) appropriate for regulated environments.

- People & Delivery— Plan priorities and releases, track progress, quality, and value delivered; communicate outcomes to management.

Qualifications

- Proven experience designing conversational systems and RAG solutions, including building data/embedding pipelines.

- Strong hands‑on skills in Python and TypeScript, and familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS).

- Ability to translate business needs into dashboards, automations, and usable models for end users.

- Experience leading small teams and collaborating with non‑technical stakeholders (e.g., finance/audit).

- Professional Italian and English, with clear, concise communication skills.

- Master’s degree or Master in Data Science, AI, Business Analytics, Engineering or related field.

- Academic paths with an international component and/or applied research in AI/ML/LLM.
