About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager at Hitachi Energy, you will be responsible for leading the execution of medium-size to large projects or project portfolio and ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead the project team allocated to the project, defining main guidelines, allocating project tasks, and motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. Provide performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Define, jointly with the Project Controls department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.
  • Project Execution and Control: Ensure that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi Energy policies. Effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization. Monitor and control project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow. Identify, qualify, quantify and manage project risks, and ensure that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Capture, analyze and share lessons learned throughout the project. Ensure that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
  • Contract Claims and Procurement Management: Ensure that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies and contractual agreements. Coordinate with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procure required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers. Support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes;
  • Stakeholder Relations: Act as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure that the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in an engineering field;
  • At least 8 years of experience in project management of medium size projects with a focus on EPC project, in addition to experience working on construction sites; experience in Electrical System industry (T&D or Power Generation) is an advantage;
  • Experience managing projects under different contractual models both in italian public and private sector (i.e FIDIC, Codice dei Contratti Pubblici).
  • Fluent in English; mother tongue Italian;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP and Microsoft Project;
  • Proactive and highly organized, experience in coordinating team also in remote locations;
  • Available to travel nationally & internationally, as needed (average 25%);
  • Previous experience with Italian utilities is a plus (Terna/Enel/Edison).
