About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Solaris Biotech, a Donaldson brand. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative bioreactor and filtration solutions for the biotech, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support R&D efforts by designing and developing bioreactor and filtration solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Apply bioprocess industry and engineering expertise to innovate and solve complex customer challenges.
  • Develop mechanical designs of product concepts in 3D.
  • Perform calculations and simulations with process engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Carry out engineering design according to cGMP, pharmaceutical technical regulation, and local regulations.
  • Assist in evaluating product prototypes and their manufacturability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Pharmaceutical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design of equipment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across a globally diverse workforce.
  • Basic understanding of applicable regulatory and quality standards (CE, cGMP,...).
  • Fluent English is a must. Willingness to learn Italian is appreciated.

Technical Competence & Skills

  • Knowledge of process control and P&IDs standard settings.
  • Capability of hydraulic sizing of lines and main process equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, agitation groups, valves, etc..).
  • Knowledge of safety regulation related to machinery (Machinery Directive, PED, ASME-U, etc..).
  • Experience in using 2D/3D software such as: Autocad, Solid Edge, Solidworks, Siemens NX.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects.
  • Hands-on mentality and problem-solving mindset and taking initiative.
  • Ability to take initiative, plan and execute tasks independently.
