Key Responsibilities- Examine and interpret design inputs, implementing related requests and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to create prototypes and samples.
- Develop close relationships with style office designers, becoming a point of reference for design teams and ensuring that technical characteristics of finished products are respected.
- Collaborate with pattern model-makers to ensure that materials chosen are suitable for product type and compile BOMs of prototypes and samples on PLM, respecting prebuy needs and prioritizing activities based on desired floorset.
- Participate in product sign-off meetings with Design and Merch, ensuring all necessary information is updated in BOMs and communicated to wider teams.
- Work closely with Product Engineering teams to ensure all trials and requests after Pass-off meetings are actioned, leveraging technical knowledge and negotiating aesthetic changes to protect design vision.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and internal ateliers to ensure creation of prototypes and samples in accordance with style requests, within right timescales.
- Work with costing department to ensure suitable alternatives are developed and presented to studio to improve margins.
- Ability to work in partnership with Senior Designers, understanding and interpreting their creative aesthetic and design vision, and translating this to teams and vendors.
- Technical capability and product knowledge with ability to confidently influence Design team and provide on-the-spot solutions in leather goods construction, leather/materials knowledge linked to shape and performance, and hardware development in metal and alternative materials linked to final goods developments.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, delivering clear briefs, and leveraging relationships to meet demands.
- Able to manage within a budget with commercial awareness and understanding of product cost, achieving a balance between creativity and commercial implications throughout product development process.
- Demonstrated experience working on-site with vendors and operational knowledge of factories, delivering clear briefs and leveraging relationships and availability to meet demands.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to negotiate with credibility, share information effectively, and work confidently with cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of fashion and products in relevant category, knowledge of trends, the market, the luxury consumer, and peer awareness.
- Computer skills: PLM, Excel, InDesign.
- Languages: Italian and English, advanced professional proficiency.
