Position Overview

The Infrastructure Maintenance Specialist is accountable for the upkeep, servicing, and repair of roadways and various infrastructure assets. This role involves ensuring that contracted assets, including road surfaces, signage, guardrails, and vegetation, are maintained according to established standards and directives from management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishes safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T) protocols by setting up and dismantling traffic control devices such as cones and temporary signage.
  • Works comfortably at heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, and ladders.
  • Conducts basic maintenance and repairs on bridge structures and associated equipment.
  • Ensures the functionality of roadway drainage systems and mechanical assets using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Maintains ventilation systems within equipment rooms.
  • Handles basic electrical system repairs, including emergency communication devices and electronic signage.
  • Operates specialized vehicles to transport crew and equipment to various work sites.
  • Participates in emergency response rotations, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Contributes positively to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures in all tasks.
  • Repairs and maintains highway surfaces, including pothole filling and striping.
  • Ensures cleanliness of highways and medians through debris removal.
  • Manages vegetation control using appropriate equipment.
  • Maintains the condition of signs, guardrails, and lighting through repair or replacement.
  • Utilizes snow removal equipment to keep roadways clear during winter conditions.
  • Remains available for emergency response as required.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.
  • Complies with all legal requirements to avoid potential challenges.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of underground infrastructure maintenance.
  • Commitment to safe work practices to prevent accidents.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate hazards in various tasks.
  • Proficiency in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Capability to interpret safety and operational documents.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as needed to meet operational demands.
  • Attention to detail and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with standard tools and methods used in construction and maintenance.
  • Skill in the operation of hand and power tools.
  • Professional interaction with the public.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Preferred one year of experience in infrastructure maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.
  • CDL, DOT certifications, and additional relevant certifications are highly desirable.

Work Environment

The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and work in various weather conditions. Employees may encounter traffic, extreme temperatures, and exposure to chemicals and insects.
