About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to our research groups, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories, and contributing to the development of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the general efficiency of the laboratories, ensuring routine and extraordinary maintenance is carried out on instrumentation.
  • Support researchers in the use of laboratory equipment, including direct operation of some instruments.
  • Cooperate in the organization of laboratory activities, including weekly cleaning, organization of lab roles, and labeling of communal structures.
  • Manage consumables and stocks, ensuring adequate positioning within laboratory spaces and in storage rooms.
  • Update technical documentation, including safety data sheets, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers of consumables and laboratory equipment, requesting quotations and evaluating purchasing activity.
  • Prepare and label chemical wastes, including delivery to the temporary warehouse.
  • Install and maintain laboratory equipment in cooperation with the technical facility.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory technicians to standardize guidelines for laboratory operations.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, or Biotechnology.
  • Experimental Master's thesis.
  • Experience in operational support to a chemical or biomedical laboratory.
  • Good command of spoken and written English (minimum B2).
  • Familiarity with basic IT software, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Cooperative approach with stakeholders.
  • Accuracy and good analytical skills.
  • Good communication and time management/prioritization skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous experience in chromatographic techniques such as HPLC.
  • Previous experience in spectroscopic analytical techniques.
  • Experience in the public or private research sector.
  • Documented knowledge of technical and legal aspects relating to safety in the workplace.
  • Strong problem-solving attitude.
  • High motivation to learn.
  • Spirit of innovation and creativity.
  • Ability to work in a challenging and international environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
  • Familiarity with data analysis software such as Origin or Prism.
