About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Integration Engineer to join our team at Amazon Development Centre Italy SRL. As a key member of our global team, you will play a critical role in delivering the next generation of world-class fulfillment systems through the use of advanced technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control specification documents for the deployment of technology products.
  • Integrate control system products and collaborate with suppliers and customers to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Commissioning: work with stakeholders to optimize workcells to predefined success criteria, ensuring smooth handover of technology products.
  • PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Own controls/software commissioning tasks for technology products.
  • Design and develop commissioning tools and customer-facing components to facilitate scalable business growth.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance engineering, testing, and operational best practices within the team.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis and testing of existing and prospective engineering solutions and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop control specifications and training materials.
  • Lead incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation.
  • Engage in industrial engineering design for existing and new material handling systems across our global network.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols and actively contribute to the identification and mitigation of potential H&S risks.
  • Foster effective relationships by partnering with various stakeholders.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Milan, Italy.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area.
  • +4 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting PLC-based control systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise of at least 4 years in designing or architecture systems, emphasizing design patterns, reliability, and scalability of both new and existing systems.
  • +4 years of experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python.
  • Skilled in diagnosing PLC control level issues, particularly with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communications protocols.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both hardware and software aspects of Industrial Control Systems.
  • Possess strong analytical capabilities for effective problem-solving.
  • A collaborative team player, eager to lead projects and drive successful outcomes.
  • Understanding of control systems and software development life-cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Self-motivated and customer-focused, consistently striving to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related area.
  • Experience with integrated development environments: Codesys.
  • Experience with Linux-based systems.
  • AWS Certification.
  • Experienced in managing material-handling-equipment (MHE), including understanding flow dynamics and capacity considerations.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.
