Contract Details: The role is offered on a one-year renewable contract basis.

Your Research Team: You will collaborate within a diverse team of experts, including physicists, chemists, and engineers, all working together on a groundbreaking project. This research is part of the EU-funded PathFinder project, focusing on the development of a multi-sensing device intended for implantation in blood vessels. The innovative micro-sensing system is designed to monitor patients with heart failure by assessing critical hemodynamic and biochemical parameters, featuring wireless connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop printed biosensors utilizing Electrolyte Gated Organic Field Effect Transistors (EGOFETs) for the detection of cardiac troponin.
  • Establish protocols for the functionalization of the bio-recognition layer.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in bioelectronic devices and biosensors.
  • Proven laboratory experience in the fabrication and characterization of carbon-based or organic transistors.
  • Experience in bio-functionalization of surfaces, such as gold electrodes or semiconductors, is advantageous.
  • A strong publication record in relevant fields.
  • Ability to effectively organize, report, and publish research findings.
  • Experience mentoring junior researchers.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
