YOUR RESEARCH TEAM

You will collaborate within a diverse and interdisciplinary team of physicists, chemists, biomedical engineers, and electrical engineers, each contributing their unique expertise to a shared research initiative. This role is integral to the ambitious PathFinder EU project "IV-Lab," aimed at developing a multi-sensing device for implantation in blood vessels. This micro-sensing system is specifically designed to monitor patients with heart failure by assessing hemodynamic and biochemical parameters, featuring wireless connectivity.

As part of the team, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing printed biosensors utilizing Electrolyte Gated Organic Field Effect Transistors (EGOFETs) for the detection of Cardiac Troponin.
  • Establishing functionalization protocols for the bio-recognition layer.

This research position is funded by the European Innovation Council through the EIC Pathfinder project "IV-LAB" under the grant agreement.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or a related field. A PhD in Biomedical/Electronic Engineering will also be considered if expertise in bioelectronics devices and biosensors is demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience in the fabrication and characterization of carbon-based or organic transistors.
  • Previous experience in bio-functionalization of surfaces such as gold electrodes or semiconductors is advantageous.
  • A strong publication record.
  • Ability to effectively report, organize, and publish research findings.
  • Documented experience in mentoring junior researchers.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
