About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Lee University. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining the university's grounds, ensuring a safe and attractive environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the university's grounds, including mowing grass, trimming turf, and removing weeds.
  • Clean and maintain all grounds equipment and tools.
  • Remove snow and ice from campus properties using power snow blowers, chemical ice melters, and other equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upkeep tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Provide support and manpower to other university departments as needed.
  • Set up for special events, including moving items such as tables, chairs, and setting up staging.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; education and experience in grounds care preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adhere to schedules.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, climbing, walking, stooping, reaching, bending, and lifting heavy weights.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and wear provided personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Valid Tennessee driver's license and ability to be added to the university's vehicle insurance policy.

Working Conditions: This position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The employee must also be able to work in dirty, dusty environments and be exposed to noise and vibration from operating machinery.

Compensation and Benefits: We offer a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
