Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting instrument repairs, upgrades, installation, and preventative maintenance at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer specific product support on GIRMS-IOMS Instruments.
  • Perform Field Service-related duties in line with internal rules, customer regulations, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Deliver the highest professional relationship with our customer base, raising technical issues to quickly resolve critical tasks in the fastest way possible.
  • Provide on-site training relative to system service, maintenance, and basic operation.
  • Diagnose problems over the phone and/or using remote software, following up to ensure problems were resolved to the customer's happiness.
  • Optimize own work schedule by coordinating with all the required partners for service planning, actively supervising the status of contract, warranty, and time and material install customers.
  • Enable the customer's success through their partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific, utilizing web-based, sales lead logging tools to ensure customers are offered those products and services they require enabling them to meet their objectives.
  • Ensure that all documentation related to in-house and on-site support activity is completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis.

Requirements

  • Background in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related subjects.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience servicing analytical equipment, or equivalent applications specialist or end user experience.
  • Some knowledge of Gas Chromatography, Gas Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry, and Mass Spectrometry an advantage, but not crucial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to balance multiple tasks with different priorities, organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to think critically, learn new technologies, clearly document requirements, work in a team, and deliver results.
  • Proficient levels of PC literacy.
  • Willing and able to travel 5 days a week within territory, Monday to Friday with occasional nights away from home.
  • Must have valid Driving Licence and professional working proficiency in Italian and English, with ability to work across all levels, functions, and regions.
