Job Title: Ethics Officer


Job Summary:


The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ethics Officer to join its Ethics Office in Rome, Italy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on ethics and standards of conduct to WFP employees and management, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of the Ethics Office Strategy and Work Plan.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Providing timely advice and guidance on ethics and standards of conduct to WFP employees and management
  • Contributing to the management of the annual disclosure programme by reviewing disclosed conflicts of interest and providing advice
  • Developing and delivering training programmes on ethics, values, principles, and standards
  • Providing advice and review on policy documents and regulations related to ethics
  • Supporting the review of requests for protection against retaliation and drafting responses as necessary
  • Broadening the presence of the Ethics Office on WFP internal and external websites and online channels
  • Providing analysis and support for reporting on and promoting the work of the Ethics Office
  • Building positive and effective cooperation with internal and external stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Advanced university degree in law, ethics, public administration, international affairs, compliance, or other related fields
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in legal advice, compliance, risk-assessment, ethics or other related areas
  • Fluency in English language and intermediate knowledge of a second official UN language

What We Offer:


The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year. The position is classified as non-rotational, and the selected candidate will be required to relocate to Rome, Italy. WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards, including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days' annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
