Position Overview
This role is focused on advancing technology in the field of Computer-Assisted Laser Microsurgery (CALM). The successful candidate will engage in a collaborative research initiative aimed at enhancing our cutting-edge CALM prototype for clinical applications.
About Us
The Biomedical Robotics Lab operates under the Advanced Robotics Research Line, emphasizing innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to robotic design and control. Our work encompasses a wide array of applications, including medical robotics, surgical technology, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement low-level control algorithms for CALM technology.
- Develop firmware to integrate with new user interfaces and surgical devices.
- Conduct performance testing and validation of CALM functionalities.
- Create high-level controllers to enhance autonomous operations and usability.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation and contribute to academic publications.
Essential Qualifications
- MSc degree in Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related fields.
- Proven experience in firmware design and development for mechatronic systems.
- Strong background in control systems engineering.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Matlab.
- Ability to organize, document, and report project progress effectively.
- Genuine interest in medical devices and surgical technologies.
- Willingness to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in robotic systems design and development.
- Familiarity with user interface development, both hardware and software.
- Knowledge of medical device regulations.
- Understanding of human factors and usability principles.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluency in both Italian and English.
