Role Overview:

The Supplier Product Quality Development (SPQD) function is pivotal in ensuring that supplier quality activities are effectively managed throughout the lifecycle of projects within the designated commodities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Quality Oversight: Lead supplier quality initiatives for all projects in the designated region, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Global Supplier Support: Provide quality assurance for projects worldwide, particularly for suppliers operating under a hub model.
  • Development Phase Monitoring: Supervise the quality of supplier products and processes during development, ensuring compliance with Alstom's quality criteria.
  • Critical Component Management: Execute quality activities for essential purchased components from the initial Supplier Part List to the successful completion of the First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct supplier quality risk evaluations at the business award stage to mitigate potential issues.
  • Quality Specification Compliance: Collaborate with project teams to ensure suppliers meet Alstom's quality specifications prior to the 'Go Order' milestone.
  • Operational Validation: Accountable for validating the supplier's manufacturing process capabilities, excluding product validation which falls under engineering.
  • Decision-Making Authority: Responsible for the Go/NoGo decisions regarding production readiness and first train validation based on engineering inputs.
  • Customer Engagement: Prepare and facilitate customer First Article Inspections as required.
  • Supplier Performance Tracking: Monitor supplier deliverables through the Supplier Quality Portal (SQP) and ensure timely achievement of FAI targets.
  • Action Plan Management: Oversee supplier action plans and drive improvements to meet quality standards.
  • Transition to Serial Life: Conduct handover processes to Supplier Quality Serial Life after successful FAI and initial deliveries.
  • Escalation Management: Initiate the supplier escalation process when SPQD deliverables are at risk and lead problem-solving efforts.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Assess supplier maturity through analysis of FMEA, control plans, and operational documentation.
  • Audit Execution: Conduct audits of suppliers not on the priority list when necessary, leveraging recognized auditing qualifications.
  • Non-Conformity Resolution: Address critical non-conformities and warranty issues with suppliers until resolution and handover are completed.
  • Inspection Preparation: Prepare requirements for incoming inspections for initial deliveries.

Performance Reporting:

  • Regularly report on activities related to project quality, including DFQ gate status, readiness reviews, and critical supplier monitoring.

Continuous Improvement Contribution:

  • Facilitate the sharing of operational experiences and best practices through lessons learned initiatives.
  • Engage in the company's continuous improvement programs to enhance overall quality processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with supplier qualification standards such as ISO, ASME, and IRIS.
  • Ability to interpret supplier contracts and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in computer applications relevant to quality management.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Location: This position is based in Savigliano (CN).
