Job Title: National Expert on Gender and Data Collection for Cambodia

UNESCO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Expert on Gender and Data Collection for Cambodia to support the implementation of the Gender Integration and Equality Approach for Transboundary Aquifers (TBA-GiEA) project.

Job Summary:

The National Expert will work closely with the Lead International Senior Gender Expert and the National Senior Gender and Water Integration Expert for Cambodia to support the execution of the TBA-GiEA Detailed Technical Work Plan (DTWP) in Cambodia. The expert will be responsible for liaising with national CMDA counterparts, supporting the development and implementation of gender and livelihood analyses, and assisting in the preparation, management, and analysis of data produced in the implementation of the TBA-GiEA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with national CMDA counterparts in relevant activities related to the TBA-GiEA implementation;
  • Support the development and implementation of gender and livelihood analyses with focus on sex-disaggregated data collection, analysis, and reporting;
  • Support the implementation of water and gender workshops and trainings with project staff and project stakeholders in water and gender data collection;
  • Assist the National Senior Gender and Water Integration Expert in implementing the gender monitoring and gender and evaluation activities;
  • Assist in the preparation, management, and analysis of data produced in the implementation of the TBA-GiEA, including data analysis and statistics for publications, mentoring of trainees in data analysis, and preparing case study articles in consultation with senior project specialists;
  • Assist in the development of project reports for donors and colleagues;
  • Support the organization of project-related outreach and delivering presentations when needed;
  • Assist in the revision and translation of data collection tools;
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Cambodian;
  • University degree + relevant experience; advanced degree in related field (MSc) as an asset;
  • 3+ years of experience with data and database management;
  • Experience with water, livelihood, and gender topics as an asset;
  • 3+ years proven experience interacting with diverse stakeholders, especially community and local government parties, in Cambodia;
  • Experience in project monitoring and evaluation preferred;
  • Proficient in Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects;
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team, creating networks, and dealing with participatory processes;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen, and learn new tasks, and respect for male and female colleagues;
  • Ability to travel and perform field work.
Working Conditions:

The National Expert will work under the direct supervision of the WWAP Senior Water and Gender Programme Specialist and in close collaboration with the National Senior Gender and Water Integration Expert for Cambodia. The expert will be based in Cambodia and will be required to travel to project sites as needed.

Duration:

The assignment is expected to last for 7 to 11 months.
