About the Role
Amazon Development Centre Italy SRL is seeking a skilled Controls Integration Engineer to join our innovative team focused on developing cutting-edge fulfillment systems utilizing advanced technologies.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will engage in the entire product life cycle, ensuring the effective delivery of units for both development and operational phases. You will act as a crucial link between Fulfillment Center Operations and product design and engineering teams.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting control specification documents for the deployment of technology solutions.
  • Integrating control system products while collaborating with suppliers and clients.
  • Overseeing commissioning processes, working with stakeholders to optimize workcells according to established success criteria.
  • Conducting troubleshooting and diagnostics for PLC systems.
  • Managing controls and software commissioning tasks for technology products.
  • Designing and developing commissioning tools and customer-facing components to support scalable business growth.
  • Leading initiatives to improve engineering, testing, and operational best practices within the team.
  • Performing thorough analysis and testing of existing and potential engineering solutions and components.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create control specifications and training materials.
  • Leading incident follow-ups, root cause analyses, and documentation efforts.
  • Engaging in industrial engineering design for both existing and new material handling systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety protocols and actively participating in identifying and mitigating potential risks.

Basic Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Over 4 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting PLC-based control systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in system design or architecture, focusing on reliability and scalability.
  • Experience programming in at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, or Python.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing PLC control issues, particularly with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical skills for effective problem-solving.
  • A collaborative mindset, eager to lead projects and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related area.
  • Experience with integrated development environments such as Codesys.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and AWS Certification.
  • Experience managing material handling equipment, including understanding flow dynamics and capacity considerations.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum methodology.
