About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Field Engineer - Rail Systems Specialist to join our team at Hitachi Rail S.p.A. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our railway systems, identifying and resolving technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement maintenance plans.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assure the collection and analysis of RAM data to inform maintenance strategies
  • Work with System Support Engineering to develop and implement vehicle management systems
  • Manage infrastructure-based systems to ensure timely notification of maintenance alerts
  • Provide performance analysis and recommendations for improvements to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support S&M Bid & Proposal in defining budgets for new initiatives
  • Update spare part lists based on maintenance plans and RAM analyses
  • Conduct LORA to define efficient corrective maintenance
  • Support maintenance operations in troubleshooting and managing activities
  • Prepare technical specifications for depot tools and coordinate installation and testing
  • Provide training to maintainers and realize failure analysis for extrawarranty
  • Validate maintenance manuals and telediagnostic messages
  • Report maintenance and safety defects, operational events, and failures
  • Present operating data to customers and ensure implementation of maintenance plans
  • Support project teams through on-field analyses and optimize maintenance regimes
  • Collect and manage operating data to ensure contractual requirements are met
  • Support S&M Procurement and S&M Operations in assessing and approving new suppliers
  • Support S&M Quality control in reporting component or train failures

Requirements

  • Experience in performing accountabilities as outlined above
  • Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineer or technical degree required
  • Minimum 2 years railway vehicles maintenance engineering application experience
  • Previous work in railway maintenance sector with focus on maintenance plan optimization, complex troubleshooting, and RAMS analysis
  • Ability to perform vehicle system analysis and interpret contract specifications
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and cable plans
  • Availability for short trips and ability to work independently

Desired Skills

  • Previous experience in Maintenance Field engineering on railway fleets
  • Basic working knowledge of Rail Train Subsystem
  • Basic understanding of software configuration managements (CM)
  • Basic understanding of software programming logic
  • Basic working knowledge of statistical analysis programmes
  • Operation and Maintenance Processes
  • Previous experience on ECM projects and Homologation planning
  • Railway Operations and Signaling principles
  • Planning and organization
  • Spare part analysis, definition, and forecast setup

Education and Qualifications

Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or System Engineering Qualifications/Associate Degree or equivalent technical background
