Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team at Instron. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing on-site support for our product range, including calibration, maintenance, installation, training, and basic troubleshooting of EM, SH, and CEAST materials testing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt and professional on-site service support for our product range.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for new sales and services.
  • Stay up-to-date with our product life cycle to advise customers on obsolescence.
  • Report on competitive equipment and activities at customer sites.
  • Plan and execute visits efficiently, ensuring smooth communication with customers.
  • Have a basic understanding of our 80 applications.
  • Ensure the quality of your work and maintain accurate records.
  • Submit expenses and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to improving customer satisfaction, reducing costs, and enhancing quality using our ITW Tool Box and other processes.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as required to support the Service department and wider business.

Requirements:

  • Ability to quickly learn technical training, processes, and systems.
  • Basic awareness of costs and your impact on margin.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and an open-minded approach.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Well-organized with good time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English and the local language.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Customer-oriented.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant technical qualifications in mechatronics, mechanics, electrical, or electronic engineering.
  • Full, clean local driving license without restrictions.

Additional Information:

  • This is a 9-to-5 role, but you must be flexible to meet customer requirements.
  • Ability to travel (including internationally occasionally) and stay away from home at short notice.
  • A variety of environments with limited physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust, etc.
  • The job holder will be required to be on their feet for a large part of the day, and some manual handling is required.
