RINA is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to enhance its team within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility in their technical functions. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, managing projects within the division while coordinating with colleagues. Your role will involve engaging in complex offshore and onshore projects, offering expert advice on ground characterization and foundation design. As part of a global team, you will strive to deliver outstanding results in a dynamic and evolving business landscape.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development of geotechnical engineering projects from initial concept through to detailed design, while overseeing the technical aspects of projects executed by other engineers under the guidance of a principal or managing engineer.
- Design various structures including foundations and retaining walls, assess slope stability, and undertake underground structure design among other geotechnical challenges.
- Create finite element or difference models for both static and dynamic analyses.
- Collect soil and rock samples to evaluate compressibility, efficiency, strength, and other critical factors influencing structural behavior.
- Formulate project timelines and deliverable schedules under the mentorship of senior engineers.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including reports, project performance records, and engineering drawings.
- Generate progress reports detailing technical advancements.
- Understand and adhere to the Quality Policy, ensuring all activities align with the RINA Quality Management System.

Educational Background

A Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering is required.

Professional Experience

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in geotechnical engineering, demonstrating a successful history of project development and design. A PhD is preferred. Experience with offshore projects is advantageous.

Technical Proficiencies:

Strong command of geotechnical engineering principles, particularly in foundation and retaining structure design, slope stability analysis, and underground structure design. Proficient in developing finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses. Ability to analyze laboratory test results to assess compressibility, strength, and other factors affecting structural integrity. Familiarity with leading geotechnical software packages (Plaxis, Gint, GRLWeap, DeepSoil) or programming languages is a plus. Willingness to participate in offshore campaigns aboard vessels/platforms for periods of 30-40 days, 1-2 times a year. Conduct onshore and offshore geotechnical evaluations, including foundation design (shallow/deep), soil-structure interaction assessments, and geohazard engineering evaluations.

Availability for offshore campaigns aboard vessels/platforms for a maximum continuous duration of 30-40 days, 1-2 times a year.
