Saipem operates as a unified organization structured into five distinct business lines: Asset Based Services, Energy Carriers, Offshore Wind, Sustainable Infrastructures, and Robotics & Industrialized Solutions.

ROLE OVERVIEW: As a Naval Handling Engineer, you will be integral to our ENCAR business line, engaging in the following responsibilities:

  • Possess knowledge in piping design and installation;
  • Collaborate with various disciplines to deliver handling outputs to clients;
  • Formulate and execute strategies for the handling of maintainable equipment, valves, instruments, and other items;
  • Draft comprehensive handling methodologies and procedures for maintenance and operations teams to conduct maintenance tasks safely;
  • Evaluate lifting requirements and recommend suitable mechanical handling devices (e.g., cranes, forklifts) for each operation;
  • Plan transportation routes for the removal and transfer of maintainable items to designated areas;
  • Define the laydown area and necessary hatch opening dimensions to ensure safe handling;
  • Work alongside maintenance and operations teams to guarantee the effective execution of handling protocols;
  • Demonstrate handling design expertise for offshore Oil & Gas projects;
  • Review vendor material and equipment handling proposals;
  • Validate mechanical vendor drawings;
  • Oversee the handling team;
  • Participate in 3D model evaluations with clients and propose solutions to challenges;
  • Interpret and comprehend technical drawings;
  • Facilitate interfaces between E3D/S3D and Navisworks;
  • Conduct handling studies and generate snapshots from E3D/S3D or Navisworks.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent contract.

EXPERIENCE: 5-10 years in a related field.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with 3D software (E3D, S3D, or equivalent, including Navisworks).

SOFT SKILLS: Team-oriented mindset, determination, eagerness to learn, autonomy, foresight, attention to detail, analytical abilities, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERABLE: Willingness for international mobility, proficiency in Italian and French.
