HOUSING REFERRAL ASSISTANT Location: Solbiate Olona, Italy Position Overview

This role is dedicated to assisting military personnel, their families, and eligible Department of Army civilians in securing off-post housing. The incumbent will engage in various housing management and postal duties, ensuring a seamless transition for service members relocating to the area.

Key Responsibilities

The Housing Referral Assistant will:

  • Maintain strong relationships with housing managers, real estate agents, and landlords to facilitate housing options.
  • Develop and regularly update a comprehensive, non-discriminatory listing of available rental properties.
  • Provide guidance on off-post housing options, considering individual needs and preferences.
  • Educate personnel on leasing practices, including deposits, responsibilities, and termination notices.
  • Offer counseling on family housing policies, rights, and obligations.
  • Accompany service members and their families during property viewings, ensuring compliance with Department of Army standards.
  • Document and address any discrepancies in housing conditions, coordinating necessary corrections.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from off-post residents effectively.
  • Process applications for off-post housing and explain government housing contracts to tenants and landlords.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA) for eligible personnel.
  • Assist new arrivals with utility service connections, providing translation services as needed.
  • Coordinate the Community Utilities Tax Exemption Program (UTEP).
  • Prepare out-processing packets and conduct detailed briefings for departing service members.
  • Utilize specialized software to provide relocation information for incoming service members.
  • Assist with translation needs for service members and their families in various situations.
  • Manage mail services, including sorting and delivering various classes of mail.
  • Facilitate the processing of Italian social security numbers and residency permits for family members.
  • Establish connections with local authorities to streamline housing operations.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the U-05 grade level.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as per the U.S. Office of Personnel Management standards.
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory.
  • A valid Italian driver's license type 'B' is required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, and lifting.
Employment Conditions

The incumbent must maintain a military driver's license equivalent to the Italian driver's license type 'B'.
