About the Role:
Scholastic is seeking a highly skilled Senior Editor to join our team. As a Senior Editor, you will be responsible for creating engaging and informative content for students in grades 3-6 nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Propose, research, write, and edit articles for print and online publication
- Serve as main editorial liaison with video production team and write video scripts as needed
- Assist in developing content for supplemental educational resources, such as reading comprehension activities, leveled articles, and vocabulary slideshows
- Oversee editorial quality assurance (QA) of magazine websites
- Top-edit content and supplemental resources written by junior staffers and freelancers, as needed

Qualifications:
- The ability to write clear, captivating, age-appropriate articles that will engage kids in third through sixth grades
- The ideal candidate will be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize short- and long-term assignments
- Creativity and a passion for producing high-interest content for kids is essential
- Knowledge of trends in education — including evolving standards, curricula, and assessments — is a plus
Experience and Education:
- A minimum of six years' writing/editing experience, preferably in educational/children's publishing
