About the Role

Hitachi Rail S.p.A. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of our rail vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement in-line test specifications, fatigue test specifications, and data analysis for next-generation rail projects.
  • Conduct studies on repair solutions for problems encountered on vehicles in service.
  • Collaborate with project groups (internal and external) to ensure the development of assigned activity parts.
  • Act as the design reference for internal and external resources involved in the team addressing vehicle problems.
  • Verify new car and bogie projects independently.
  • Participate in concurrent engineering with the production and service department.
  • Monitor production in prototyping phases and validation tests of car registers and bogies.
  • Support operative checks and/or repairs of vehicle bodies and bogies in service.

Requirements

  • Experience in performing tasks as described above.
  • Master of Science or technical degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in railway vehicle projects in an engineering role, preferably in structural fatigue and experimental data analysis.
  • Availability for short domestic and overseas trips.

Desired Skills

  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling (in CREO), 2D drawing (CREO and Autocad), and FEA software (HBK Ncode or similar).
  • Basic knowledge of welding processes using carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloy structures.
  • Basic knowledge of structural fatigue.
  • Analytic approach.
  • Team-working attitude.
  • Flexibility.
  • Result orientation.

Education and Qualifications

Master Degree in Engineering (Mechanical is a preferred title).

Languages

Knowledge of written and spoken English at least B2 level.
