Development Officer, West Region

Villanova University seeks a skilled Development Officer to join its California-based fundraising team. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing effective relationships with donor prospects and existing donors across the West Region, with a focus on San Francisco, San Mateo County, East Bay, and San Jose.

• Prospect Management: Identify and manage a portfolio of prospects, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with portfolio prospects and donors.
• Cultivation and Solicitation: Plan and implement prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies, using work and stewardship plans to identify and evaluate potential donors.
• Event Support: Support prospect engagement and involvement efforts for University-wide events and programs taking place in California and West subregions.
• Administrative Support: Provide administrative support for West Region-based advancement efforts.
• Special Projects: Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree: Required.
• Experience: A minimum of two to three years of experience in the nonprofit sector (or a transferable field) with exposure to frontline fundraising/client services preferred.
• Understanding of Individual Fundraising: Demonstrated understanding of individual fundraising required, preferably in the field of higher education and/or within the West Region philanthropic community.
• Commitment to Higher Education: Commitment to the principles behind higher education and a strong desire to associate with Villanova University and champion its mission expected.
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.
• Organization and Attention to Detail: Must be well organized and detail oriented.
• Teamwork and Self-Motivation: Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment, as well as a disciplined self-starter who is results-oriented.
