Renewable Energy Project Origination and Development



Wood is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Renewable Energy Developer to join its Energy Assets & Development team, focusing on solar, wind, and storage projects. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a team of experts in renewable energy project development and contribute to the growth of a global leader in the industry.



The Senior Renewable Energy Developer will be responsible for leading the origination and development of utility-scale renewable energy projects from initial concept through to ready-to-build status, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:



Project Origination and Development




  • Identifying and evaluating new project opportunities in the renewable energy sector
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, government officials, and regulatory agencies
  • Negotiating and finalizing contractual agreements, including land rights and option agreements
  • Preparing detailed financial models and investment analyses to assess project feasibility and optimize funding strategies
  • Overseeing the entire project development process, managing multiple projects simultaneously


Team Leadership and Collaboration




  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to strategic planning efforts to enhance our renewable energy portfolio
  • Staying abreast of market trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the renewable energy sector
  • Interface with external consultants and legal teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance


Requirements and Qualifications



To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:




  • Proven track record in successfully originating and managing renewable energy projects from initial concept to ready-to-build status
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, investment analysis, and funding mechanisms relevant to renewable energy projects
  • Excellent negotiation skills for securing land rights and other contractual agreements
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including landowners, government agencies, legal counsel, and financial partners
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery
  • Experience in leading and mentoring junior team members, fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with proficiency in additional languages a plus
