Job Title: Carbon Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carbon Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our carbon credits projects in East Africa, ensuring their successful implementation and certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination: Assist the Head of Carbon Credits Project Portfolio in planning and coordinating our carbon credits projects in East Africa, including collecting information from the ground, coordinating with local project managers and partners, managing data, and performing site visits where needed.
  2. Project Reporting: Assist in the preparation of project reports to be presented to Gold Standards for the validation, design certification, implementation, and monitoring of carbon credits projects.
  3. Project Certification: Follow up on projects' certification steps according to Gold Standard international standards mechanisms procedures.
  4. Data Management: Collect and manage data on the field for the preparation of baseline, monitoring, and impact reports by using digital tools.
  5. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the local project staff for the implementation of project activities.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with local project partners for the implementation of project activities and reporting.
  7. Networking: Liaise with local and international stakeholders (government authorities, private and public entities, profit and non-profit organizations) for the proper project implementation, establishment of synergies, and setup of new collaborations where feasible.
  8. Professional Development: Participate in events, conferences, and workshops (both in presence and online) organized by the main actors in the carbon credits and climate sector.
  9. Research and Analysis: Research information on news and updates related to the carbon credits sector worldwide and share with the team.
  10. Project Development: Look for opportunities to establish new carbon credits projects in Africa, with a special focus on East and West Africa, by networking with donors, investors, NGOs, and companies.
  11. Project Design: Identify calls for proposals in line with the scope of work of the organization and support the team in designing projects.
  12. Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks where requested.

Requirements and Skills:

  1. Education: Education background at graduate or post-graduate level in any of the following sectors: Renewable Energy, Project Management, Environment, Development Cooperation.
  2. Experience: At least 2 years of proven work experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager or similar role in the development cooperation sector. Experience in environment protection, safe water access, energy, and clean cooking projects in Africa is an asset. Previous work experience in East Africa is an asset.
  3. Knowledge/Work Experience: Knowledge/work experience in the carbon projects sector is an asset.
  4. Project Management Skills: Project Management skills (project design, development and management of operational planning and monitoring framework, financial management, evaluation of project impact).
  5. Language Skills: Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Swahili or other languages is an asset.
  6. Digital Skills: Digital Skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  7. Soft Skills: Soft skills: ability to work in a multicultural team, to perform several tasks simultaneously, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and cooperation with other team members.
  8. Travel Requirements: Availability to travel in remote areas in developing countries for short-medium periods (minimum 2 weeks).
