ContourGlobal is a leading independent power producer that develops, acquires, and operates electricity generation assets worldwide.

The Team Leader Engineering PV plants will develop PV plant designs, using energy yield assessments, layout optimization, and state-of-the-art component configurations in multiple design iterations to determine the lowest cost of energy (LCOE) and will manage external engineering companies to review and optimize the final project design.

They will cooperate strictly with the Construction team and procurement office for the success of the project. This key member of the Engineering team embodies curiosity and creativity, innovating constantly to optimize internal rate of return (IRR) through multiple tools and deep knowledge of the latest technology trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar designs, including equipment selection, energy modeling, and optimization to design the highest performing integrated systems.
  • Conduct engineering reviews and technical due diligence, including evaluation of system components, cable sizing, configuration, and environmental conditions to confirm reliable energy production estimates that optimize capacity, production, and cost.
  • Identify new PV and equipment technologies to maximize internal rate of return (solar modules, PV inverters, tracking structures, components for electrical connection to the grid, and other pertinent technologies).
  • Cooperate with the Procurement Function to assess technical offers and proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements and comparability between all offers to select the best value for money components and services.
  • Support the Construction team to solve technical issues and modifications and visit plants once under construction to overview compliance with the design.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of technical data consistent with engineering best practices.
  • Confirm project designs with industry standards to optimize for constraints, including geography, schedule, scope, and financial constraints.
  • Prepare other technical documents, reports, and calculations as necessary.
  • Build a small team to support the above activities as the pipeline grows.

Project Assessment:

  • Run various production estimates in pursuit of the highest IRR using specialized software tools as input for financial models.
  • Develop energy yield assessments (EYAs) to aid in the optimization of high-value projects.

Qualification and Skills:

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years' experience designing and optimizing utility-scale solar projects.
  • A history of success in complex solar projects.
  • Knowledge of the renewable energy industry and development processes related to large-scale wind, solar, and storage.
  • Strong project management skills with experience with relational databases to track and report information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build strong professional relationships and work in a team.

Travel Requirements: Up to 20% upon business needs.
