Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Mitochondrial Mechanotransduction and Metabolism

We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our laboratory and contribute to our research on the role of mitochondria in mechanotransduction and metabolism.
About the Laboratory
Our laboratory, led by Prof. Sirio Dupont, is part of the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Padova. We are interested in understanding how mechanical signals regulate key signaling processes and metabolic pathways, and how this knowledge can be used to develop novel therapeutic approaches to combat metastasis relapse.
Our research has focused on the discovery of the mechanical properties of the extracellular matrix as a key regulator of YAP/TAZ proteins, and how this pathway regulates homeostasis and cancer development in the mouse liver. We have also identified how mechanical cues shape cell metabolism and contribute to cancer cell metastatic dissemination.
Research Projects
We are currently working on several projects that aim to characterize the mechanisms underlying the regulation of mitochondrial morphology in response to mechanical stimuli, and how this regulation affects signaling pathways and nuclear gene expression. We have developed mouse alleles to study the physiological role of this 'mitochondrial mechanotransduction' signaling pathway in mice, and have identified small-molecule compounds that modulate mitochondrial mechanotransduction.
Requirements and Opportunities
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in cell culture, imaging techniques, and basic molecular biology. Previous experience in metabolism studies and/or a certificate in animal experimentation is a plus. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects, collaborate with a team of experienced researchers, and apply for competitive National and International Fellowships.
