Overview

The Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement for the Internal Audit, Risk, and Internal Controls (IARIC) function is responsible for establishing and executing the quality strategy and framework for IARIC. This role encompasses managing the development portfolio, leading cross-functional projects, and overseeing the competence and professional development initiatives within the IARIC team. Additionally, this position is tasked with shaping the communication strategy and framework for IARIC.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Strategy and Framework: Develops and implements the IARIC quality strategy, ensuring that quality principles are integrated into daily operations and processes in collaboration with IARIC teams. Monitors and reports on quality metrics as part of the IARIC KPI framework.

Development Portfolio Management: Oversees the IARIC development portfolio, which includes both team-specific improvement initiatives and broader cross-functional projects. Implements lean project methodologies to support effective project management while ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.

Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Acts as the primary owner of cross-functional IARIC projects that require collaboration among multiple teams. Engages with team leaders and assigns responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle, while maintaining communication with stakeholders and managing relationships with external consultants and vendors.

Competence and Professional Development: Collaborates with IARIC leadership to define a unified competence framework across teams, aligning with key competencies within Finance and Hitachi Energy. Identifies future competence needs and develops a roadmap to address them.

Communication Strategy: Develops and manages the IARIC communication strategy in partnership with Finance and Hitachi Energy Communications.

Leads and nurtures the IARIC Quality and Continuous Improvement team, fostering an inclusive environment. Provides coaching and development opportunities to team members, while planning for future growth.

Required Competencies and Knowledge:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent in business administration, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, with strong presentation capabilities.
  • Excellent collaboration and change management skills, with an openness to diverse perspectives and a focus on creating effective solutions.
  • Proven experience in implementing quality development, portfolio management, and project management across various environments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a 'can do' attitude and a commitment to timely delivery.

Required Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience in quality management, development programs, and project management, with a focus on people and communication development.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior management and stakeholders in a matrix organization, building strong relationships across global functions.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in guiding teams under pressure in dynamic environments.
  • Background in large, fast-paced international organizations that operate across multiple time zones and utilize remote work and virtual collaboration.
