Job Title: Environmental Affairs Specialist

UNESCO is seeking an Environmental Affairs Specialist to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for revising and proofreading documents and text intended for publications on environmental affairs, gender-related topics, and water resources in Spanish, Russian, and Italian within the UN context.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Revising and proofreading documents and text intended for publications on environmental affairs, gender-related topics, and water resources in Spanish, Russian, and Italian within the UN context.
  • Developing dedicated content for the glossary, literature review, and development of original content regarding inclusive language to be mainstreamed in publications and other relevant written resources.
  • Assisting the WWAP Secretariat in revising the bibliography of the UN WWDR 2026 during the last stages of the drafting process.
  • Supporting the WWAP Programme Specialist and Publication Assistant during the editorial process of the plurilingual glossary on water and gender terminology.
  • Assisting the WWAP Secretariat in the implementation of the capacity development programme in the Latin America and Central Asia regions.
Requirements:
  • Advanced university degree (Master level) in languages, linguistics, literature, or a relevant field.
  • Experience in revising and proofreading documents and text intended for publications on environmental affairs, gender-related topics, and water resources in Spanish, Russian, and Italian within the UN context.
  • Good knowledge of scientific and gender-related lexicons.
  • Excellent grammatical knowledge in Spanish, Russian, and Italian, excellent written and oral Spanish, Russian, and Italian.
  • Good written and oral English.
  • Knowledge of the UN (and specifically UNESCO) style guides.
  • Good organizational, networking, and partnership building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver on deadline.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to adapt editing for different materials for different audiences.
  • Good skills and effectiveness in written and oral communication and presentation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
