About the Role

The Strategic Planning Officer will play a key role in supporting the Director, OSP, in the development and implementation of the Organization's strategic plans and policies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in planning, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as experience in business process analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis to support the development of the Organization's strategic plans and policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and analyze key issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement business process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Organization's operations.
  • Provide technical support to the Director, OSP, in the development and implementation of the Organization's strategic plans and policies.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and other documents to support the Organization's strategic planning and policy development.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in business or public administration, finance, economics, agriculture, development economics, international development, or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluation and business process analysis.
  • Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate – level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in collecting and analyzing information from textual, database, and human sources.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in analyzing strategy and policy issues, including servicing of Governing Bodies or Committees.
  • Familiarity with relevant computer tools for analysis and communication.
  • Ability to analyze complex strategy and planning issues and to integrate them into related business processes and procedures.
  • Proven track record of leading and contributing to Governing Body processes.
  • Ability to manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of another FAO official language (particularly French or Spanish) is considered a strong asset.
  • Understanding of FAO policies and programmes is considered a strong asset.
